NBCC’s Tutoring Services - Options
Learning Circles (small group tutoring)
Topic-specific sessions lead by a Peer/Professional Tutor or Learning Strategist. Course specific sessions offered to help students fill in the gaps they may be missing about a subject and/or provide additional academic review. These sessions may include Math, Physics, Writing a Paper, etc.
NBCC will organize Learning Circles to help with overall learning skills such as Study Techniques, Reading to Remember, Organizational Skills, Text Anxiety, etc. Specific Learning Circles are organized when a need is identified and an appropriate facilitator is available.
Learning Circles are FREE and students can attend as often as they wish. NBCC encourages this option first; you might find a “study buddy” while attending! Most Learning Circles will be held on Tuesday evenings on campus between 4:30-5:30 pm. Sign up with a Learning Strategist, its one easy step.
One-on-one study and course content review sessions provided by a current student (if available). Your first ten hours are free.
One-on-one study and course content review sessions provided by a professional tutor. Pending availability of professional tutors, this option is limited and may not be available at all campuses. Professional tutors are hired by NBCC with sessions payed for by the student.
