How the application process works
As part of NBCC’s First Qualified, First Accepted admissions process, qualified applicants who apply first will be admitted first. To do so, applicants must submit a complete application package that will be time stamped upon receipt.
Complete application packages will be considered in the order in which they are received as long as the applicant meets or is in the process of meeting the program’s admission requirements (for each program, please refer to the "Admission Requirements" section to determine which profile applies). The last document received in order to assess the file will be time stamped and used to capture the complete application status.

What's included in a complete application package?
- Application form
- Application fee
- An official high school transcript
- Other post-secondary transcripts (if applicable)
- Other admission documents required to assess the file (Examples: Proof of Language Requirements, Portfolio, Mature Student Application Form, etc.)
English Language Requirements
For Permanent Residents of Canada or international applicants, proof of English language proficiency may be required.
Program Admission Profiles
The complete program admission profiles outline the pre-requisites required that applicants will need to meet, or be in the process of meeting. For each program, please refer to the "Admission Requirements" section to determine which profile applies.
New Brunswick applicants have priority for NBCC seats; however, NBCC has reserved a limited amount of seats for out-of-province applicants each academic year.
The College Admissions Service starts processing acceptances once the admission cycle for the current academic year is complete. For example, for programs starting in September, admission closes three weeks after the start of classes. Following the closing date for admissions, we start processing for the next academic year.
Grade 11 students can apply by submitting their current grade 11 transcripts on or after the first business day in April.
Wait lists for high-demand programs
Through NBCC's First Qualified, First Accepted admissions process,
- Waitlisted applicants will no longer need to reapply each year. Wait lists will roll over, and waitlisted applicants will retain their position until seats become available in the next academic year for the same program offering. Example: if you applied for a September intake, your application will roll over to the next September intake. If you applied for a January intake, your application will roll over to the next January intake.
- Waitlisted applicants who receive an offer of acceptance less than four weeks prior to the start of the program will have a one-time option to defer their application. This means they keep their original time stamp and their application is carried forward to the next academic year for the same program/location.

For waitlisted applicants, here are three waitlisted scenarios that could apply.
- As a waitlisted applicant, I’m offered a seat prior to the four-week window to the start of classes (i.e. offered a seat July 3, with the program starting September 7). Now what?
- I can accept, OR
- I can decline and reapply.
- As a waitlisted applicant, I’m offered a seat four weeks prior to the start of classes (i.e. offered a seat August 17, with the program starting September 7). Now what?
- I can accept, OR
- I can take a one-time option to defer my application. This means, I can keep my original time stamp and my application is carried forward to the next academic year for the same program/location.
- As a waitlisted applicant, I’m not offered a seat for the current program. Now what?
- I don’t need to reapply. Beginning in fall 2015, wait lists will roll over. I will retain my position on the wait list until seats become available. This means I keep my original time stamp and my application is carried forward to the next academic year for the same program/location.
An applicant may apply to two programs. The application for both programs will be processed. If the applicant is accepted into their preferred program, their application for the second program is automatically cancelled.
If the applicant is admitted into their second choice and confirms by paying the deposit or confirmation fee, they will have a one-time option to return to their preferred choice should a seat become available.
If the confirmation fee has not been paid and the applicant chooses to change, they will have 30 days to confirm the change.
Candidates may appeal any decision on an application by submitting a notice of appeal to the Director of the College Admissions Services within 30 days of the decision and send via:
